Fellowship in Oslo (Non-fiction literature)

NORLA are, together with PAHN (Performing Arts Hub Norway) and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Berlin, organising a full-day translation seminar on drama in Berlin on Thursday, 21 May. The main focus is a practical translation workshop for translators working from Norwegian into German, led by Hinrich Schmidt-Henkel, recipient of the 2025 Fosse Prize for Translators.
Participants will work on translations of an excerpt from filmmaker and author Dag Johan Haugerud’s debut stage play Sykdom og sosial nød (“Illness and Social Distress”), which this spring is playing to sold-out audiences at Torshovteatret in Oslo.
The seminar will conclude with lunch, after which the participants may attend a separate programme for theatre industry professionals: Ibsen and New Norwegian Drama, with theatrical readings, panel & networking reception held at the Norwegian ambassador’s residence — also this organised in collaboration with PAHN and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Berlin.
